I took this picture by setting the shutter speed at 20seconds. I took a couple pictures with the shutter speed at 30 seconds too, which turned out slightly brighter. But what i liked most about this one was the purple ish blue effect of the sky and little yellow light on the bottom which isn't too dark. Tried to take the pictures of the moon but it wouldn't come in focus, any suggestions for that ?

It’s an interesting idea to use a night landscape for this shot. The palms look very effective against the night sky. The depth of field and aperture size are exactly right for this photo. The long exposure compensates appropriately for the lack of light. The camera is well stabilized and you have avoided blurring.

But the photo has come out dark. The shot has been taken in the dark, and even with the longest possible exposure there is not enough light. To get the appropriate level of brightness in these conditions, you either need to use a lower aperture value, or (less preferable) raise the ISO.
Generally, when shooting landscapes, it is better to do so during what we call “the magic hour.” This is the hour before and after sunrise, and the hour before and after sunset. The light at this time is softer, more diffuse – the best kind for taking photos – and the sky is rich in colour.
In the given lighting conditions, you could have devoted more attention to the well-lit objects on the ground, instead of having the focus of the shot so high up.
If you want to take a picture of the night sky with the moon and stars, then you can go about this in a slightly different way. But in order that the moon and stars are not blurred, the shutter speed would have to be no more than 1 second. Otherwise, these objects will become “washed out” as they “move” from their position in the sky. But in this case you absolutely have to use a lower aperture value and raise the light sensitivity.
