This photo was taken while on holiday in Scotland in 2013. The road vanishing in the distance around the bend, the greenery all around, the perfect blue sky with a subtle hint of wispy clouds, and the mountains which provide an uneven horizon, instantly made me want to take a photo to capture the beauty of the moment. The photo was taken at 18mm (in order to capture as much of the scene as my camera would allow), f/8 (which I believed allowed me to have enough focus in most areas), at 1/200 sec. Another feature which I like about this photo is the composition. The path I am standing on is almost symmetrical to the mountain on the left-hand side. The photo follows the rule of thirds - 1/3rd sky, 1/3rd mountain landscape, and 1/3 foreground because of the path.
Hello Andrew!
Оценка работы
Thank you for the photo!
You’ve captured a very expressive landscape. It is competently composed, following the rule of thirds. You’ve done excellent work on perspective, using the wide angle. You’ve accurately ascertained the depth of field for landscape shooting to get a sharp image. The conditions have enabled you to shoot with a short exposure on a low ISO. As a result, you’ve maintained the highest possible quality for the shot. The colours transmit wonderfully the atmosphere of the subject. White balance has been set correctly.
Замечания и рекомендации
There is a lot of contrast in the photo. It looks like the contrast has been added using a photo editor. This is a little overdone, so that the information in the shadows is no longer readable. I would point out that at this stage in your learning, manipulating photos is not allowed. This is a technical course. The most important thing is how you take the photos. With photos that have been manipulated, it is not clear who has put more work in – the photographer or the retoucher.
