This is probably one of my favourite photos. This was taken soon after I got my first camera in 2008. It took many attempts to get the photo which I thought was the perfect shot. If I remember correctly, the photo was taken on P mode, as I was still experimenting with the new camera. The photo was taken at 1/1000 f8 55mm ISO400 The aperture allowed me to get good focus on the flower and bee at the same time, though in hindsight, I'm not sure whether a slightly smaller aperture would have given a slightly better result with more blur on the background. At the time, my maximum zoom was only 55mm (standard zoom) so I spent around 2 hours of trying to get the bee exactly where I wanted it. The flower is slightly cropped out, and the bee is probably more centred than I would have initially liked, however, the fact that there is space in front allows us to get a sense of space and movement.
Good day to you!
Оценка работы
The time you have spent on this shot was totally worth it for the result you have got. It looks great! This work belongs to the genre of macro photography. The focus is right, you have homed in on the insect. Closing the aperture to f8 you have managed to get almost every part of it in sharp focus. The ISO is not overstated, and the quality is that much higher as a result. The shutter speed of 1/1000 has enabled you to “freeze” the moment perfectly. Utilising maximum zoom, you have left the background nicely blurred. You’ve allowed plenty of visual space in the direction of the hornet’s gaze, its gaze is not cut short by the borders of the photograph. The flowers against which you have photographed the insect make no less an impression. This is a beautiful photograph! Shooting in sunny weather has also allowed you to add excellent contrast.
