For this exercise let's say no to using flash! Oftentimes ambient light is exactly what we want to show in our photos as it fills the image with atmosphere and mood. Using flash in this situation can break this subtle moment, disturb the colors and change their intensity.

Think through your image and instead of illuminating your subject with artificial light, increase the ISO value and get longer exposures. Use a tripod for best results as shooting hand-held can shake the image.
